The International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products (A.I.S.E.) is the official European voice of this industry with members in over 40 countries. Back in 2005 it initiated a European Union-wide scheme called the Charter for Sustainable Cleaning to promote better health & safety and environmental practice in the manufacturing of detergents and other home and professional cleaning products.

Wherever the Charter symbol is displayed it means the manufacturer is committed to the scheme and has had its products measured in terms of economic, social and environmental performance. Additionally we have partnered with the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Design for the Environment (DfE) programme. This earns us the right to display the DfE logo on those products that are at the green end of the health and environment spectrum and that have sustained or improved their product performance. Effectively, what the DfE logo represents when it appears on a package is that the product helps protect both a family’s health and the environment.
